- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆PROPER JOB OLD SCHOOL FIRM WHO SAVED MY VINTAGE MOTORBIKE STARTER MOTOR I’m based in Plymouth and own a 1980’s vintage US import motorbike. The starter motor packed up so I went to the two starter motor businesses in Plymouth and both fobbed me off and neither offered to remove the two bolts to investigate further. I phoned Albaston Starters & Alternators and explained my experience with the two local firms and was told to bring it to Kelly Bray to check if it could be saved. They took it into the workshop...stripped it and found oil and carbon debris...spent around 30 minutes expertly restoring it...tested it, gave it back to me and charged a very reasonable fee. I put it back on the bike and it started with the first press of the button. I was also told that should the starter fail in the future (it’s 33 years old) and spares can’t be found...they would make the parts on site. Proper job old school service in contrast to the Plymouth firms so if you are in a similar situation then don’t despair until you have tried Albaston.By Admin, March 01, 2020
